CHIS&E INTRODUCES FIRST GRADE STUDENTS TO ALGEBRAIC CONCEPTS

Imagine 1st grade students being introduced to algebraic concepts. Hard to believe but it’s true. ChiS&E recognizes children’s ability to grasp concepts at an early age. So they’ve developed a curriculum for students beginning at age six that will instill mathematical thinking. ChiS&E students learn what mathematicians do, what a pattern is and how to look for patterns in numbers. They’re learning how to use a ten-frame thinking tool as well as how to write a number sentence and a math story problem. These little mathematicians and math detectives are a little young for working with decimals and fractions, at least for now, but they’re the right age for working with whole numbers to solve math problems.
